“You may delay, but time will not.”-Benjamin Franklin

As Benjamin said time doesn’t wait for anyone; the time wasted today cannot be replaced tomorrow. Once its gone ; it will never come back that’s why many of us regret later on. We at times want to go back and change our past mistakes or make different life choices but no matter how much we try, we cannot turn the clock backwards because there is no way back. Then why not we start today so that will be not regret later.

Productivity demands hard work or smart work but above of all it asks for time management . But how can we manage time if we are procrastinators?. Procrastination is a challenge we all face at one point, we either delay, avoid or procrastinate the tasks that matters to us. Science explains procrastination is the fight sparked between two parts of the brain when it’s faced with an unpleasant activity or assignment , the war is between Limbic system ( responsible for pleasure) and Prefrontal cortex ( our internal planner or manager) mostly when Limbic system wins the battle we procrastinate or postpone our task for temporary relief.

Understanding the mind games aid demystifying our habit of procrastination but it does not cure the habit of delaying or perpetually neglecting our important tasks. To cope with this habit we at Amal academy were introduced to ‘’Pomodoro.’’

Pomodoro technique is a time management system that help us to complete our task within given time. It also breaking the continuous habit of procrastination. In this technique we have to break our tasks into 25-minutes chunks with 3 minutes of break in result it will maximize our productivity.

I practiced this technique for this whole week i divided my tasks and record time by my phone’s timer. At first , my thoughts were ‘’it will build pressure on me and i will not be able to perform good.’’ But the results were astonishing, my productivity boosted 30% percent. I was less occupied by my procrastinating habits ; i wasn’t checking my Facebook, Instagram as well as What's app notification because the first thing i did was to turn off my internet connection. I had to complete my Thesis project which needed 9 hours but i finished it in 5 hours . I got time to work on my Amal projects also i finished online courses on time. Also helped my mother in house chores just by Pomodoro technique.

I am not against leisure activities or social networking but everything we do should have its own place and time-frame. Because we have to decide how to utilize our time in order to maximize our productivity to achieve our goals.

In end i will quote “Simplicity boils down to two steps: Identify the essential. Eliminate the rest.”- Leo Babauta
